Welcome to Scribble head goes...

Dive into my escapades and the lessons I learn along the way. From the mundane to the extraordinary, each day offers a new story, a new adventure, and a new lesson.

to the beach.

Can we really imagine the vastness of ocean? As a kid and even as an adult I visited Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean. I never really thought about how big the ocean really is, until I took my own children to Virginia Beach this past September. They had never seen the ocean, so it was a treat for all of us. As a more mature adult, it hit me, this water goes on forever. Well not literally eventually you would get to land, but as far as I could see and imagine, there was never ending water. There were ships on the water that looked tiny, but if we had seen them docked, they would have been huge. Our hotel was on the waterfront, and it was so relaxing to be able to look off the balcony and see this enormous beauty. The sounds of the huge seagulls and waves are something I find quite pleasant. I took the kids to their first seafood buffet. Unfortunately, I can't eat the amount of food I did as a younger person, so many crab legs and scallops escaped my belly that evening! We also overlooked the fishing pier and went out on it. I was a little scary being over that much water on a wooden surface, but fun at the same time. A hurricane was on the way, so swimming was out of the question. The seashells weren't very good either, not like in Florida. We hope to return there someday. It was a magical trip and wonderful to be there experiencing it with my children. It still is hard to comprehend such a vast amount of seawater stretching on forever, with huge ships and all kids of creatures, some never seen by people, living under the water. Sunrises are my favorite and that morning's sunrise was extra special to me. It was one of my favorite trips I have ever taken, I wish it could have been more than one day.

to give a Memorial Day speech

On Memorial Day I gave a speech to honor two great ladies, one living and one dead. Both of them are heroes to me and my words can't really tell of their great sacrifices to our country. I with heartfelt gratitude thank all those who made the ultimate sacrifice to our country for our freedoms we hold so dear today. God bless America!

to watch the deer relax.

Relaxation. Something people may strive at but can be a hard thing to accomplish. Even when we go do things to relax, like a vacation, fishing, hunting or a picnic, it takes a lot of work, just to relax. I enjoy vacationing, but face it, they're a lot of work!

to graduate college.

I finally did it! I have been taking college classes off and on since 1997. Yes, that is a long time! No matter where I went to school at any age, I always struggled with math. I finally came to find out why in my last semester of math, taking Math 105. I always wondered why, no matter how carefully I input numbers in my calculator or thought they were written correctly on my paper, my answer was wrong. I just thought I was dumb. My teacher stood over my shoulder one day watching me work and told me my problem. No, I am not dumb but have been struggling with math dyslexia all these years. What a relief!   It explains why I have struggled, don't understand APR and can't balance a checkbook.
